A North Westside fundraiser plans to make one final splash.  The Westside Response Service Society will hold the last "King Quack" duck race June 28 at Polson Park.  "This will be our final duck race as we have now set up an endowment fund with the Community Foundation of the North Okanagan," said Pat Matthias, with WRSS.  "This fund will now provide an income in perpetuity for free CPR training for the residents living in the North Westside fire protection area."  The society was formed almost a decade ago to ensure that residents on the west side of Okanagan Lake are prepared to handle a health emergency until professionals arrive.  For Matthias, the conclusion of fundraising is a major milestone for the society.  "We are downsizing so we can provide more time for our main goal, which is to provide free CPR training for the residents," she said.  As part of the duck race, tickets can be purchased for $5.00 each.  At 1 p.m. June 28, rubber ducks will be tossed into Vernon Creek and the first three across the finish line will win prizes.  To purchase tickets or for more information, call 542-2382.  Read about who won the race here.
