SINKING OF THE OLD BRIDGE PONTOONS

The City has been so gung-ho about recycling, so why are they allowing the sinking of the old bridge pontoons into the deepest part of Okanagan Lake BC. and into peoples drinking water and fishes habit?

I was wondering if the old bridge pontoons could be dug into the shore of the lake and used as boat loading ramps. (Parks etc.) That way only part of each pontoon would be in the lake. The pontoons could be towed by to location by water and the shore work would be accessed by the existing roads. They would be of use, and also a bit of touchable history from the old bridge. It is only a thought as I do not know about the structure, or materials of the pontoons, but thought it was worth a mention.
