This letter below was submitted by Allastair Fergusson (Fergie), president of
the North Westside Ratepayers Association.
Allastair Fergusson's letter is addressed to residents of the local communities
from Westshores in the North to Traders Cove in the South which include the
communities of Westshore Estates, Killiney Beach, Estamont, Ewings Landing,
Valley of the Sun, Muir or Upper Fintry, Fintry Delta or Lower Fintry, all the
way to traders cove.

Dear Residents,
I would personally like to thank the three hundred and sixty-three residents of
our community who signed and remitted Elector Response Forms to defeat Bylaw
1214. This bill would have taxed our properties to provide a reserve fund for
the Killiney Beach Hall. Thank you for proving democracy is alive and well in
our community.
This tax initiative was caught in time but many other issues were only learned
of after the fact. This proposed tax became the impetus to form a group to
follow fiscal affairs concerning our community. Therefore we resurrected the
North Westside Ratepayers Association (NWRA) which is duly registered with the
Province of British Columbia. We hope to work with other associations to create
a more cohesive community. In unity lies strength and with a unified community
we can accomplish the needs of our residents. All residents from Westshores in
the North to Traders Cove in the South are invited to join us.
All meetings, both executive and general, will be open to all residents in our
area and interaction will be encouraged. Time and place for the meetings are yet
to be determined and will be posted. Anyone wishing to become a Director for the
NWRA should contact the undersigned.
The membership fee will be One Dollar ($1.00) or a Suitable Donation. We will
communicate through letter mail, telephone and e-mail so that we can keep costs
to a minimum. To become a member of our association please submit your cheque or
money order to: North Westside Ratepayers Association, at the above address.
Please include your Name, Mailing Address, Postal Code, Telephone Number and
E-mail address with your remittance. You are also welcome to come to a meeting
to join in person.
