Effective noon Thursday, July 29th, 2010 all campfires will be banned in the Central
Okanagan, North Okanagan and the entire Kamloops Fire Protection District, but
you are still permitted gas flame appliances and briquette appliances.
Please program *5555 in to your cellphone to Report a Wildfire in BC or
Toll-Free 1‑800‑663‑5555
The fine for unauthorized campfires is $345. And up to a $1 million fine or
three years in prison for causing a wildfire.
I don't see the difference between a propane flame and a wood burning flame, do
you? They can both cause a wildfire. One time I moved the BBQ and
the burner got knocked from its seated position without my knowledge, and my
entire BBQ started on fire just after I started it. I guess the BBQ was
moved so that it was laying on its side and that is how the burner came off its
position. The burner was not screwed down and it just sat in its spot ok
until the BBQ was moved and the burner got knocked off its spot.

ACCESS TO JUSTICE
Help Reform Legal Aid in BC
Since 2002, changes to legal aid funding, structure and governance in BC have
put the justice system into crisis and resulted in reduced access to justice for
women, new immigrants and refugees, and low-income British Columbians.
Legal aid is a vital social service; not only because it is legally mandated and
necessary for a functioning justice system, and not only because it is necessary
to promote equality and justice in our society, but also because drastic cuts
have cost Canadian society and tax payers in unmet legal needs and the resulting
expenses of social exclusion. Underfunding legal aid services is no longer a
viable option in British Columbia.

Mr. Premier -
I just wanted to express my thanks to you for your introduction of
the
HST for British Columbians.
Until yesterday I actually thought I would have some small stipend
left in my budget to spend on minor things such as food and heat and
light and lodging. But thankfully you have now taken that difficult
decision of where I should now spend that money.
Your government has been so good at reducing the decision options
for B.C. Citizens, particularly Old Age Pensioners ever since you
took office.
You started off by introducing the Unfair Pharmacare Program, you of
course called it Fair Pharmacare, and I guess as it left us with
less money in our pockets and more in yours, I can see your point.
Then you introduced increased fees for hunting and fishing licences
and park use fees. Of course you did promise that these monies would
all go back into the resource. You lied of course. But again thanks
to you we now had less money to worry about.
I won't go into the Olympics because it certainly makes sense to me
that my money is far better spent by you on million dollar parties
and brownnosing the hoi faloy by you and your compatriots in crime
rather than my using that money for silly things like keeping warm
and or eating. But hey, you have my best interests at heart I know.
Now you have taken or are taking some $800 million from B.C. Hydro
to pay for the big party, and so naturally and rationally B.C.
Hydro, which needed the $800 million to upgrade and maintain our
decaying and crumbling power facilities to ensure we have heat and
light in the future, why they just increased our electrical rates by
9%, a very tricky back door tax on your part, sneaky aren't you!
But hey, I understand that keeping you in the style to which you and
your developer friends have become accustomed to is of paramount
importance.
Then of course you are taking another almost $800 million from ICBC
which over time will result in increased insurance fees, another
back door tax.
But hey on this one you really solved our problem because with your
new tax and the ongoing smoke and mirrors, "Carbon Tax" you are
ensuring we cannot afford to drive our cars so we don't have to
worry about car insurance do we? Clever guy.
Oh. by the way, what have you been doing with the millions you have
raked in on the Carbon Tax? Just a thought, maybe people would like
to know where the money goes other than parties and to massively
overpaid minions you keep hiring in our health and education
systems.
And now of course you have solved all our money problems with the
grand old HST. I never would have thought of it, no money, no
problems.
I am looking into having the Federal Government just sending my
pension cheque directly to your account and thereby saving us all
the middle men and accounting issues.
Really appreciate all you have done and are doing to keep us from
having to wonder what we will do with all our money in the future.
I will be however, working with Bill Vander Zalm as hard as I can
just to show my full appreciation for your efforts.

private sales of vehicles, boats and aircraft in
British Columbia is continued, but at a rate of 12 per cent.
Paperwork to claim an HST rebate on pellets for your pellet stove if you
pick the pellets up yourself. Same goes for propane tanks if you bring the
bottle in to be filled.
Point of sale rebate on diapers for children, and it
doesn't mention diapers for adults.
And that's not all the HST will apply to! Click here to read
more.
An initiative petition must be signed by at least
10% of registered voters in each electoral
district in the province.
If 10% of registered voters in each electoral district sign the petition,
the government will have to scrap HST,
or hold a referendum if they still want to go ahead with it. There is also
recall of Premier Gordon Campbell available.
In some ridings there was more than 40% of the people signing the petition.
What
started as a movement to stop the HST has turned into an open revolt against an
out of touch and arrogant government that refuses to listen to its own people,”
said Vander Zalm.

There is one poisonous spider you need to watch out for, and that is the
female black widow spider with a red spot on its back. The
male is not venomous.
Rock fences and retaining walls are the worst, so are piles of
junk or wood. We have seen them in the garage. They say trees you
buy to plant can have spiders that come in from different
parts of the USA, like in tropical plants etc..
They like old tires too.

Chocolate
conspiracy charge prompts deal
CBC News - Last Updated: Saturday, June 12, 2010
Cadbury has offered a settlement in an alleged price conspiracy case
against the company and a number of its competitors in Canada. (CBC)
The B.C. Supreme Court has issued a ruling that could bring
Canadian chocolate lovers a step closer to compensation from the
country's major candy manufacturers.
The court ruled Friday to allow a settlement agreement as part of a
class action lawsuit against Nestle Canada Inc., Hershey Canada
Inc., Mars Canada Inc., and Cadbury Adams Canada Inc.
An investigation by Canada's Competition Bureau has alleged a
conspiracy among the manufacturers to artificially inflate the price
of chocolate bars sold from 2001 to 2008.
In exchange for providing information against
the other companies, Cadbury Adams, along with its distribution
company, Itwal Ltd., offered a settlement worth nearly $6 million.
Cadbury's offer is a good deal, according to Luciana Brasil, a
Vancouver lawyer involved in the class action.
Settlement challenged
"We were able to negotiate a very favorable settlement," said Brasil.
"If we're able to ultimately resolve all the claims against the
other parties, then all [plaintiffs in the class action] are going
to potentially benefit."
Brasil said it's not yet clear what form that settlement will take.
"Whether that will mean a direct financial benefit or some other
kind of benefit, we don't know … at this present moment."
The class action applies to anyone in Canada who bought chocolate
made by Nestle, Hershey and Mars between 2001 and 2008, Brasil said.
Hershey is appealing the settlement agreement by Cadbury Adams and
the Crown.
The conspiracy allegations have yet to be proven in court. |

TRUE STORY

We know one person who complained to City Council about having a hard time
affording to live,
and so City Council called the police whom threw this person into a BC hospital.
The person said in a letter to City Council that they didn't want to live
anymore if they couldn't afford to. The BC Hospital basically beat this
person into submission so they wouldn't complain or say the word "suicide"
anymore. It didn't matter that the person said they were too chicken to
commit suicide, this person was locked up for a few weeks so that pills could
be shoved down their throat and so that they could be monitored. All this
person really wanted was for City Council to hear them. Those are real bruises with no
touch ups. What you see is the consequence of this person's complaint.
At the hospital, this person was given a needle in the backside and was
unconscious for two days from whatever was given to them in the needle and after.
When they woke up, these bruises are what they saw had happened to them. So the
person said they didn't want to live anymore. Why is this person not
permitted to have these feelings if things are not going well, and why should a pill
be shoved down their throat to temporarily mask a legitimate feeling? And
why should this person be beat into submission for it? Isn't a person
permitted to complain? In
this persons case a pill did nothing for them but made then very angry. Why are people not
permitted to have a legitimate feeling? Maybe they feel like they want to
die because nobody is listening, but does that automatically mean they are going
to take action? Do you think this person wants to live moreso after they
are beaten? Why are there not other remedies besides pills being shoved down
peoples throats? Pills are not the one and only answer!
There are root causes to people's feelings and if nobody is listening and acting
on these feelings, most likely the feelings won't just go away on their own. In
fact I think feelings only fester if ignored. For one thing, everyday
stress has a lot to do with how a person is feeling and each person can react
differently. What stressors can be lifted from the person so as to allow
the person some freedom from stress? Stress can cause all types of
ailments, but yet it is not looked at hard enough in our opinion.
So, does stress kill brain cells?
The answer seems to be yes. Stress causes the release of a hormone called
cortisol.
So there you have it, the more stressed you are, the more people will think you
are stupid and that you
need a pill to take the stress away when in actual fact the stress could be
money problems or some other problem. How any pill can take away money
problems is beyond us! Pills only cost a lot more money!

Municipal Lawyer Needed in Ontario

municipal lawyer at a reasonable price to defend me. I have to this
point defended myself with horrible results. Please contact for
further information sjmct "at" cyg.net
Re: Municipal Lawyer Needed in Ontario
« Reply #2 on: January 07, 2010, 09:04:51 AM »Reply Quote Thank you
for the reply. I have tried hundreds of lawyers and find that
Municipal Lawyers work for Municipalities not normal people. They
will not bite the hand that feeds them. Other Lawyers do not have
the Municipal experience and have no idea how to help me. I have
spent what I could afford to defend myself but am not a rich person
and I am not a lawyer and although i have done the work until now, I
need help. So if there is a lawyer out there who has experience in
Municipal law that could help and is not looking for the huge
retainers I have been quoted I would really appreciate it. And
unfortunately Municipalities whether right or wrong have deep
pockets
MUNICIPAL TAXES HELP NEEDED
« on: February 02, 2010, 09:00:02 AM »Reply Due to the ongoing
battle with my Municipality I am now being told that they are
starting tax proceedings for back taxes owing. Although I have been
making payments and tried to arrange something with them they are
still proceeding. Part of the tax bill is for a fee for municipal
water which I should get back but they are also fighting that. What
are my rights and what should I do?
Representing yourself not always good
« on: March 12, 2009, 09:33:03 AM »Reply Just an update for anyone
interested. Had my court date and it did not go well. The judge was
not impressed that i was representing myself in court on 5 charges
all relating to renovating. Now I am looking at a $5000.00 fine. If
there is a lawyer in Southern Ontario who would like to take on a
case I will do whatever I can to try and find some money to hire
one?? I think I really need one
Re: Grounds for Appeal ?????
« Reply #3 on: April 03, 2009, 08:11:48 AM »Reply The case took
place in provincial offense court in Ontario and I represented
myself due to lack of funds for a lawyer. I told the judge on
several occasions I did not know what to do and I did get the
impression he was not happy about this. The one and only witness the
opposing side had lied on the stand and I tried to prove this and
the judge would not let me. The judge never asked any questions of
me as he had in the other cases. This is only part of a larger
situation that I am having with my municipality and this has been
going on since 2005. The appeal will be in the Supreme Court of
justice and I will not be defending myself if I can help it. I am
just not sure on what grounds to appeal other than I am still not
guilty of the 5 charges

MUNICIPALITIES HAVE DEEP POCKETS
« on: December 23, 2009, 10:34:32 AM »Reply As an update to my
situation with my Municipality and the never ending abuse. After I
was found guilty and fined $6500.00 I was given 2 weeks by the judge
to get a lawyer as I new I could no longer represent myself.
The only lawyer I could get and still can not
afford did not win my appeal and states he did not have enough time
and I that I can not afford him to continue. My trial was
unfair and if the evidence had been entered I am sure I would not
have lost. The Municpality has unlimited money to continue to fight
me and with my tax dollars. There new bullying technique is to
threaten to take my home for back taxes owing. Wonderful Christmas
gift. If any one has any advice on what to do next I would
appreciate it. Thanks Sherrie

Seeking Land Use Advice
« on: May 27, 2009, 01:13:07 PM »Reply Many people are seeking
advice on land use, title, and municipal law matters. In some areas
of the law, the basics of the legal principles are the same across
the country. In other areas, there are similarities between all the
"common law" provinces, and differences in Quebec based on Quebec
civil law.
In matters of land use, not only are there differences between all
the different municipalities, cities, towns, but there are
differences province to province.
Therefore, it would always be useful for those with questions to
include the province, and even the town, city, or district involved
in the question. |
The Status of Property Rights in Canada
CONSTITUTION ACT, 1982 (in effect today)
PART I
CANADIAN CHARTER OF RIGHTS AND FREEDOMSLegal Rights Rights and
freedoms in Canada
1. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the rights
and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits
prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and
democratic society. Life, liberty and security of person
7. Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of the
person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance
with the principles of fundamental justice.
Search or seizure
8. Everyone has the right to be secure against unreasonable search
or seizure. Treatment or punishment
12. Everyone has the right not to be subjected to any cruel and
unusual treatment or punishment. |
Later I found out that
no claim has ever succeeded in court under Section 12
of the Charter of Rights. Cruel treatment in Canada is when a
Third World dictator’s thugs deprive somebody of his property or rough him
up, not our civilised men wearing suits and ties and acting under the
so-called statutory authority.
In the end she took the escape clause in the Charter of Rights that is
Article 1, if it’s in public interest, which can suspend all of our
fundamental constitutional rights, and dismissed the claim.
|
BILL OF RIGHTS (still in effect to this day) PART I
BILL OF RIGHTS
1. It is hereby recognized and declared that in Canada there
have existed and shall continue to exist without discrimination
by reason of race, national origin, colour, religion or sex, the
following human rights and fundamental freedoms, namely,
(a) the right of the individual to life, liberty, security of
the person and enjoyment of property and the right not to be
deprived thereof except by due process of law;
(b) the right of the individual to equality before the law
and the protection of the law;
(c) freedom of religion;
(d) freedom of speech;
(e) freedom of assembly and of association; and
(f) freedom of the press. |
In Canada, governments can still expropriate at will with no
constitutional protection for family assets. This has occurred over the
decades in almost every Canadian province notes Milke.
Examples of property right infringement in Canada
Coquitlam offered compensation – $38,000 – but only for the portion of the
land altered by the stream. No compensation was offered for the rest of the
property declared sterile.
The above examples and more show the importance of property rights, notes
Milke. “Property protection shelters the savings and investments of
families, be it their home or other property; property rights also protect
risk-taking by individuals and companies, activity that is critical to a
country’s general prosperity. Canada needs a
constitutional amendment to ensure property rights become a Charter right.”

Telus ADSL costs between
$22 to $50, and
for $50 per month you get a whole
100 GB
data
and not just
5 GB
of data
like you do with
Telus wireless internet stick LARGEST

while the largest plan allows 100 GB.
Telus Mobility's Smallest USB wireless internet stick plan
allows only 500 MB data while the largest allows for only 5 GB of data per
month. Telus wireless stick plan costs
$65 per month
for ONLY 5 GB data + 5˘/MB for overage which
amounts to $51.20 for 1 GB data over what the plan allows! And don't get stuck
with a
$5,000 bill like this

The BC Government condoned people to become smoking addicts and are suing
tobacco companies AGAIN.
Makes sense doesn't it?
The BC Government is going after tobacco companies claiming they are making
people sick. But it was government whom gained tax money and permitted the
tobacco companies to sell tobacco, and allowed this addiction in the first
place. Who is the sick one?? Now the BC Government is stressing how bad collecting all that tax
money really was?
Isn't this just another one of the BC Government's flip flops??
Do you think the BC Government should be charged with
accessory to murder, if anything they are
the regulators and they have every bit of the power and control?
If you ask us, it is the Government that is making people sick and the
Government
are the ones that should be charged if anybody!
The
BC Government already lost their case to tobacco companies back in 2003, as the
court ruling then was in favour of tobacco companies. Why would the BC
Government waste more
of our tax money, just so the Government can ask to collect more taxes? What kind of azzhole
is the BC Government to do this to its people anyway, smoker or non-smoker!!

Public Consultations Background
Background: Parliamentary Review of FIPPA
Section 80 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy
Act (FIPPA) requires that the Act be reviewed by a special committee
of the Legislative Assembly every six years, with the first six-year
period to begin on October 4, 1997.
The first review was undertaken by an all-party Special Committee
between 1997 and 1999. The Committee heard from
84 presenters at nine public hearings
and considered
136 written submissions.
Its Report recommended 18 legislative amendments and was
adopted by the House on July 15, 1999.
The second review was undertaken by an all-party Special Committee
between 2003 and 2004. This Committee heard from
22 presenters at public hearings in
Vancouver and Victoria and received
53 written submissions.
Its Report was adopted by the House on May 19, 2004, and 16 of
the Committee’s 28 recommendations remain to be implemented by
policy or legislation.
-----------------------------
Can you believe that is all the written
submissions they received? There may have been 62 less
presenters the second time around due to only holding public

public hearing, although there were less written submissions the
second time around as well. |

CRTC had asked Canadians to comment on the
so-called TV tax on special web site
Canadians only had until Dec. 21 to comment online at
http://television.askingcanadians.com/
--------------------------------------------------- Fee for
carriage is only part of the story, as broadcasters are also seeking
to: block U.S. signals; leave some Canadian
communities without over-the-air television; and delay
the transition to digital television transmission until 2013.
The prospect of blocking U.S. television
signals will come as a shock to many, but both CTV and
CanWest, Canada's two largest private broadcasters, have asked the
CRTC to establish a new program-deletion policy.

----------------------------------------------------- The CRTC
says it has received more than 190,000
comments about the bitter, contentious debate.
Nearly 115,000 comments arrived via the broadcasters's "Local TV
Matters" campaign, while approximately 49,000 were sparked by the "Stop
the TV Tax" initiative introduced by the cable and satellite
companies.
Other campaigns resulted in 8,300 comments. Meanwhile, the broadcast
regulator has received an additional 16,700 comments sent directly
to its website. Source

UPDATE
Marketwatch.com March 22, 2010 snippetts
In reference to today's decision by the Canadian Radio-television
and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to establish a new
value-for-signal regime for private conventional TV broadcasters,
Cogeco Cable Inc. reiterates its position that
the
proposal provides no solution and will ultimately see consumers
footing the bill. Cogeco Cable, as the regulator
itself, questions the CRTC's authority to implement such a regime. Cogeco Cable intends to be a party to Federal Court of Appeal
proceedings on this matter.
"Canadians would gain nothing with this proposal, which would
eventually force them to pay more for TV from conventional
broadcasters with no assurance of improved quality or quantity of
content," stated Yves Mayrand, Vice-President, Corporate Affairs of
Cogeco Cable.
Such a proposal is blatantly unfair since
it would allow private
conventional TV broadcasters to collect a fee for their programming
when viewed on cable or satellite systems, while it is available
free of charge to all Canadians over the air and, increasingly, via
the Internet. |
If you are looking for the local North Westside Road website
you may have paid $1,000 for, that would be the
North Westside Communities Association website.

How can government be so cruel?
There is no place to rent for $375 per month. Please Premier Gordon
Campbell, please read
the classifieds
in the Okanagan to see if you can find
a place to rent for $375 per month.
|
DISTURBING FACT ABOUT SOCIAL ASSISTANCE
MAXIMUM
ASSISTANCE FOR RENT = $375
For employable singles, the
maximum assistance you would be eligible to receive for one month no matter what
your rental payments really are.
$375 Shelter
$235 Support
= $610 per month max. assistance?
But in many cases rent alone
costs more than $375! Check out the
classifieds and see for yourself. If you are a
person
with disabilities or a
senior:
$375 Shelter
$531 Support
= $906 per month max. assistance
Seniors get $296 more per month than someone younger. Why? |
Why End
Poverty?
ELP believes unemployment and poverty are not the fault of individual poor
people. They are caused by government policies and legislation. For example,
low minimum wages and welfare rates keep people living
far below the lines of poverty.

| It use to be that a person on assistance was eligible for
free tooth extractions, but not anymore. It could cost
between $38 - $100 or maybe even more. If the homeless need low cost dental,
there is a 7 month wait at
Kelowna's Gospel Mission which is the only low cost dental
clinic in the Kelowna / Vernon BC area, plus
Kelowna's
Gospel Mission is not taking new referrals.
And if the homeless needed dental care between Christmas and
New Years and they didn't have the $200 because it is during the
holidays, they were out of luck and had to live with the puss
seeping from their gums and being poisoned.
That is just how well paying a government works. You
get nothing in return but pain!

Ministry pays 72% on dental work for kids and the disabled.
Warning though, these kids and the disabled may be charged more
if the dentist charges more than the recommended fee as
recommended in the non-mandatory BC Dental Associations fee
guide that is not published online, but may be located at a
large municipal library.
The ministry's fee schedule for dental services for eligible
people on income and disability assistance and children served
through the BC Healthy Kids Program is
72 per cent of the BC Dental Association's 2007 fee guide.

B.C. homeless win right to camp in parks
CBC News - December 9, 2009
Homeless people can camp temporarily in public parks if
municipalities can't provide them with sufficient alternative
shelter, British Columbia's highest court ruled Wednesday. |

Have you ever given thought to why in Canada so many people are forced to
rent and can't afford to buy a home? Wouldn't you call renting,
temporary shelter?
